Cookies and How We Use Them

Some pages on the Edison PTA site may use “cookies”—small files that the site places on a computer’s hard drive for identification purposes. Cookies cannot read information from a user’s hard drive, run programs or deliver viruses to a user’s computer.

A cookie file may contain information such as a user ID to track the pages visited, but the only personal information a cookie can contain is information the user supplies. These files are used for site registration. The cookie will tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page on the Web site, and the site’s features may be customized for a user based on that information.

Your web browser may notify the user when the user is receiving a cookie and it may give a user the choice to accept or reject it. Users can set their browsers to warn them about cookies, and refuse all cookies. If a user chooses not to accept cookies, some pages may not fully function and the user may not be able to access certain information on this site.
Children and Privacy

Children under 13 years old are not the target audience for this website. The Edison PTA strictly prohibits the solicitation of personal information from children.

Student Information

In 1998, Congress passed the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) to protect the privacy of children under age 13 when using commercial websites and online services, including mobile apps. The primary goal of COPPA is to ensure parents are in control over what information is collected when their young children are online.

This website does not collect any data of our Edison student body.

SOCIAL MEDIA
At Edison Elementary's PTA, we're dedicated to ensuring our students shine while also keeping their best interests at heart. We often receive queries about our choice not to feature student photos on public social media platforms, and we truly appreciate your understanding and trust. While we're always eager to spotlight our incredible students, there are a couple of core reasons we choose this path:

-
Not every parent has provided consent for their child's photos to be shared publicly and we respect their decision.
-
We are committed to adhering to the guidelines set by COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) to ensure our students' online safety.

On a related note, we understand the digital landscape and the powerful reach of social media. We gently encourage all our Edison families to be thoughtful when sharing photos or videos, especially when other students are present. It's a collective effort to ensure every child's privacy.
NEWSLETTER

You may have noticed that we often pair graphics with text that reiterates the content of those graphics. This approach is intentional.
While visuals add a splash of fun, we're mindful of our community members who might be visually impaired and rely on software to "read" the content. By including text, we're ensuring that everyone has access to the same vital information.
Plus, text-based information aids in email searches, making it easier to find specific details in past newsletters.
