Mrs. Flosi To Help at the District Level

From the Superintendent's desk: It is a great honor to announce Ms. Laura Flosi as the Director of Child Care Programs. Laura has served Edison Elementary with steadfast commitment and a full heart making a significant impact on the lives of students and staff alike. While her absence at Edison will be deeply felt, we are excited that her expertise will now benefit all of our childcare programs at our elementary schools and middle schools. Ms. Flosi has served in public education in the Los Angeles area since 1990. She began as a classroom teacher in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in Latin American and Iberian Studies at the University of California at Santa Barbara and a teaching credential at California State University Los Angeles. In 1996, Laura then was selected to serve as a Bilingual Resource Teacher. She then earned a master’s in Educational Administration at the University of Southern California. In 1999, Laura became a Principal in the Pasadena Unified School District for three years. Since 2002, Ms. Flosi has served as the Principal at Thomas Edison Elementary School. Ms. Flosi also holds a Spanish bilingual certification and a Gifted and Talented (GATE) teacher certificate.

As Principal at Edison, Ms. Flosi has served in a collaborative manner with staff and parents implementing her vision that all children can and will learn. She believes strongly in differentiating instruction so that the needs of each child are met. She has supported her staff in making educationally sound decisions programmatically to benefit children. Her love for learning and desire to keep current has created a positive reputation for Edison Elementary in collaboration with her staff.

We are sad to see Mrs. Flosi leave our school, but we know she'll still be around Burbank!

We are happy to know that more students and families will be able to take advantage of Mrs. Flosi's abundant experience on the district level!
